We have been collaborating with The Block former contestants, Dan and Dani who share a love for the right vehicle for your lifestyle.
Since their success on the renovation TV series, Dan Reilly and Dani Wales have established their own design and construction business, Red Door Project. Dan is now a fully qualified and certified Master Builder and continues to grace our TV screens as The Blocks' Foreman Dan. Dani is now a qualified Interior Stylist and co-host of Network Ten's long running Healthy Homes Australia.
Dan and Dani have been the perfect fit for our dealership with their dynamic, innovative work ethic and laidback personalities. Through their work with Berwick Mazda, they have been able to share their passion for home design with our customers.
You will see Dan cruising from job sites in his BT-50 and Dani zipping around town in her CX-3 from Berwick Mazda.
BM: You both have had an exciting experience over the last few years, including as contestants on The Block. What has been some milestones and what have you learnt?
Dan & Dani: "We have been very fortunate in the things we've done in our 8+ years together, with The Block being one of the most exciting and life changing. We've worked hard to be able to continue our love of design, renovating and construction with the launch of our own design & construction offering, Red Door Project. We've also had multiple personal property achievements along the way.
We'e learnt not to take no for an answer and always make the most of every opportunity. We're constantly learning new things about business, building and life daily which is so exciting".
BM: Lifestyle is a strong aspect of both your work. Tell us about some of your recent projects such as Red Door Project?
Dan & Dani: "Red Door Project is our joint design & construction venture which has enabled us to combine each of our individual skillsets into a unique product offering for clients. With Dani's skills in Design & Styling and Dan being a fully qualified Builder, we're able to offer an end to end solution for clients needing assistance with the interior specifications of their project right through to the construction.
This along with our own property design and development projects keeps us very busy. In between all this we've made travel one of our main priorities so we consider seeing the world as one of our more important projects".
BM: Dani, you are co-hosting Healthy Homes Australia, are there common traps DIY-ers fall into? What are some key pieces essential to a stylish home?
Dani: "Absolutely - I always meet people who have tried to give the job a go themselves without doing the proper research or being too impatient to properly understand what's required. This most often ends up in them having to employ someone to correct the issue, or finish the job off. I call this, compulsive DIY-ing haha. It ALWAYS pays to do your research and shop around.
When it comes to styling your home, my go-to for creating a warm inviting feeling is live plants, textured cushions (which you can change with each season), large rugs and candles.
I believe in the motto 'buy once, buy well' and I'm a big believer in sustainability so I rarely impulse buy new furniture pieces., but I'm constantly changing up my bed linen and cushions as they are the most cost effective things you can change to instantly change the look and feel of your home".
BM: With The Block set to return to our screens for another season, what can we expect?
Dan: "We've gone back to houses this year which is a whole different kettle of fish to previous years where the contestants have re-fitted apartment buildings so it comes with a whole new set of rules and regulations. It's a great bunch of contestants which I think the Australian public will enjoy watching".
BM: What are you two loving about your BT-50 and CX-3 from Berwick Mazda?
Dan: "For me, the BT-50 is the ultimate workhorse that helps me get the job done. It carries a heavy load, has great steering and honestly feels like I'm driving a luxury vehicle.
Dani has even driven it a couple of times so she also can agree that it is the complete package for people like us".
Dani: "My red Mazda CX-3 is perfect for zipping around town and running errands, and it honestly is a small SUV with a big offering - I've lost count of the number of times I have jam-packed it full of homewares without needing a second trip!
My CX-3 has so many safety features and I know I'd be lost without the blind spot monitoring now. I love my red pocket rocket!"
